S. V. Granite Exports

Our office is in Ankur Plaza on G. N. Chetty Road. T. Nagar is a crazy place to have a business, but it's central. We do exports, so there is a lot of back and forth with the ports and the shipping agents. The office is often full of folders and granite samples that we need to send out. It’s a lot of coordination. You spend half the day on the phone and the other half dealing with the traffic outside. It’s a noisy part of Chennai. We’ve been here at number 52 for quite some time. It’s a practical workspace, nothing too elegant. We just make sure the stone gets where it needs to go across the water. Sometimes there are delays with the ships and we have to explain it to everyone. It’s just part of the export life. We have samples from many different quarries tucked away in the drawers. People come by to see what can be shipped out for their projects abroad. G. N. Chetty Road is never quiet, even late at night. We’ve gotten used to the sound of the city while we check our shipping lists. It’s busy work, but we like keeping the stone moving to different places. It feels good to see the containers loaded and ready to go to another country.
