Harini Agro Foods

Our shop is at No. 68/9 Gowdia Mutt Road in Royapettah, right where the traffic always seems to be at its worst. It’s a tight space, but we’ve managed to fit all our processing equipment in there. Working with agro foods means we have to be careful about storage, so we spend a lot of time cleaning and checking temperatures. The smell of the products is always in the air, which I guess we don't even notice anymore. We get a lot of walk-ins even though we aren't really a retail store, mostly just people from the neighborhood asking what we’re up to. The stairs are a bit narrow and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for us. We handle a lot of sacks of grain and various food items that come in from the farms. Royapettah is a busy place, so there is always noise from the street coming through the windows. We take our lunch breaks together when things calm down in the afternoon. It’s just a handful of us trying to keep the orders moving out on time. Sometimes the delivery van gets stuck in the narrow lane, and we all have to go out and help the driver navigate. It’s just part of the daily grind here on Gowdia Mutt Road. The tea vendor across the street knows our order by heart and brings it over at exactly four o'clock.
