Ritika Provisions

If you're walking down Angalamman Koil First Street in Annamal Nagar, you'll find us at 1A. Ritika Provisions is basically a local spot for people living right in this part of town. It’s a small shop, and we try to keep the things people actually use every day on the shelves. You know, the staples. It gets a little crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and realizes they forgot milk or rice. Being near the temple means we get a lot of foot traffic on festival days, too. The street can be tight for parking, but most of our customers just walk over anyway because they live just a few houses down. I’ve spent a lot of time arranging bags and boxes so everything fits in this space. It’s not a supermarket by any means. It’s just a neighborhood provision store where we know most of the people who come in by their first names. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the old ledgers, but we manage. My kids sometimes hang out in the back after school while I finish up the day’s tallies. It’s a decent way to make a living, even if it means long hours standing on my feet. We just focus on keeping the basics in stock so the neighbors don't have to go all the way to the big market.
