If you are trying to find Rathpon Engineering, it can be a bit confusing because the numbers changed. We are at New No 80A, which people used to know as Old No 87, inside the Ambattur Sidco Industrial Estate. This neighborhood is very industrial, so there is a constant background of machinery noise and trucks moving around. It is a gritty area, but being in the heart of the estate is useful for the kind of work we do. Our workshop is nothing special to look at. It has high ceilings and the concrete floor usually has a bit of oil or metal shavings on it. We spend our days handling different engineering projects. Some mornings are quiet while we do maintenance, but other times it is a total rush to get everything out the door on schedule. The heat in Ambattur gets pretty intense during the summer months. We usually keep the big bay doors open to catch whatever breeze might come through. There is a small, cluttered table where we keep our logbooks and an old computer for the basic paperwork. The guys working here have been around for a long time and we know how the machines like to run. We don't have any big signs or fancy advertisements out front. Most people in the Sidco Estate just know we are here at 80A. It is a practical life focused on metalwork and getting things finished.
