If you walk down Gandhimandapam Road in Kotturpuram, you’ll find us at number 24. The shop isn't massive, but it fits what we need. We spend most of the day behind the glass counters. It’s quiet in here compared to the road outside. We’ve got a few chairs for people to sit while they look at the silver and gold pieces. Sometimes people just come in to get a clasp fixed or to ask about prices. We don't mind. My cousin and I run the place mostly. We have a small workshop area in the back where the real work happens. It gets a bit dusty with the polishing wheels, so we keep the door closed. The lighting has to be bright, or you can’t see the small details on the rings. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the backup, which hums loudly. Kotturpuram is a nice area, but parking is a nightmare for everyone. We see the same people walking their dogs every evening. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the shopkeepers on this block. We don't do much advertising. People just know we are here. It’s a steady pace. We clean the glass every morning because fingerprints get everywhere. It’s just part of the daily grind at Rajathaabharma.Jewellers. We keep the books manually mostly, just how we learned when we first opened.
