Being at No.36 & 36A on Velachery Main Road means we deal with a lot of traffic outside our windows. It is one of those streets that never seems to stop, and we are right in the middle of it. Our day usually begins with unlocking the main doors and making sure the front desk is ready for whoever walks in first. The building has been here for a bit, and people in Velachery know the spot well. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on the tasks at hand. There’s always something to do, whether it’s checking the inventory or talking to someone about their appointment. The rooms are basic but they work for what we need. We see people coming in from work or on their way home. Sometimes the rain makes the road a mess, but the hospital stays open. We have a few benches outside where people wait if they need a bit of air. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of the fans and people talking quietly. We keep our supplies tucked away in the back cabinets. Everyone who works here has their own way of doing things, but it all gets done by the end of the shift. We aren’t trying to be anything other than a place where you go when you need help. It’s just us and the patients on a long, busy road.
