Suede Craft Exports

Out here in Pammal, on Anna Salai, we’ve got our little setup for Suede Craft Exports. It’s number 69, right on the main stretch. Most mornings start with a cup of tea and looking at what needs to be shipped out that day. We deal with a lot of suede, which is a tricky material sometimes because of the dust it makes. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we keep busy enough. It's a bit of a trek from the main city center, but we like the pace here. We’ve got shelves stacked high with finished pieces waiting for the courier to come by. Sometimes the fans don't quite cut the humidity, so we just keep the doors open and hope for a breeze. We aren't really the type to spend much time on computers or fancy paperwork; we’d rather be moving the boxes around and checking the stitch work. Pammal has changed a lot over the years, but our spot stays pretty much the same. You can hear the bikes zooming past on Anna Salai all day long. We just focus on getting the exports ready and packed tight so nothing gets ruined on the way. It’s straightforward work, nothing too complicated. We just do what we do and try to keep things organized in our own way, even if the piles of material seem to grow on their own.
