Stonecolour Exim is situated at No. 110 on Mahatma Gandhi Street in Nungambakkam. We handle a lot of export-related work with stones, so there is always paperwork on the desk and crates being packed in the back. It’s a busy atmosphere, but we keep things grounded. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the details of shipments that are supposed to go out. Sometimes the days feel long, especially when there are deadlines to meet, but we just keep at it. People occasionally walk in thinking we are a retail shop, and we have to explain what we do, which is fine. We like being in this neighborhood; it feels connected to the rest of town. The building at No. 110 is where we do all our planning and sorting. It’s a straightforward job, and we focus on getting the stones where they need to go without making a big fuss about it.
