Natural Granites

Our place, Natural Granites, is at No. 64 Poonamallee High Road, right across from the Balamurali Theatre. If you know that area, you’ve probably seen our stacks of stone while waiting in traffic. The High Road is always moving, so there’s a lot of dust and noise coming in from the front. We keep the granite slabs out where people can actually see the colors and the grains properly in the natural light. It’s a lot of heavy work, and we usually have a crane or a few guys moving things around to get to a specific piece a customer wants to see. We don't have a lot of space for a fancy office, so we mostly just stand around the yard or sit at a small desk near the entrance. The granite comes in big shipments and we have to spend hours organizing it so the heavy ones are at the back. It gets really hot out there on the pavement during the summer months. We've had people stop by just because they saw a nice piece of stone while driving past the theatre. We just tell them the price and how long it’ll take to deliver. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. No one wears a suit here; we are all in work shirts and boots, covered in a bit of stone dust by the end of the shift. We just try to get the orders loaded without scratching the polished surfaces.
