Goyal Marbles Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of No. 2/604 on ECR in Neelangarai for quite some time now. We spend most of our days out in the yard under the sun. Dealing with marble is heavy, dusty work, but it’s what we do. You’ll find us right on the main stretch where the coastal breeze hits the stone stacks. Most people just pull in when they’re driving past and want to see what slabs we’ve got sitting out. It’s not a fancy setup with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have the stone and the space to move it around. Sometimes the inventory changes fast, and other times certain blocks sit for a while until the right person comes looking. We keep a ledger of what’s in the back, though most of it you can see just by walking through the rows. My staff and I usually have tea around eleven while we wait for the next delivery truck to arrive from the quarry. It gets noisy when the cutters are running, so we usually talk loud. People in Neelangarai know us as the place with the big slabs near the road. We don't spend much time on the computer; we'd rather be out there checking the polish on a new batch of white marble. It’s just honest work, day in and day out, making sure the stone gets where it needs to go.
