Mitrah Stone

We are out here at number 269 in Kummanur. Mitrah Stone isn't a massive operation, but we stay occupied with the work we have. Kummanur is a bit quieter than the big cities, which I actually prefer. Our setup is pretty basic. We have the stones laid out where people can walk around and look at them. It’s mostly outdoor work, so we are at the mercy of the weather. When it rains, things get a bit muddy around the yard, but we just put on our boots and keep going. I started this because I liked working with natural materials. There is something about the weight and the texture of stone that you don't get with other things. Most of our customers are locals from around the area or people who are building small homes nearby. We don't have a fancy office or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. If you call, you'll probably just talk to me or one of the guys on the floor. We spend our days loading and unloading trucks and making sure the inventory is where it should be. It’s honest work, even if it’s hard on the back sometimes. We don't promise anything crazy; we just show you what we have available at the moment. It’s a small business and we like keeping it that way so we can actually see what’s going on. We just take it one slab at a time and do the work.
