Manyata Silks & Sarees

Vepery is a crowded place. Manyata Silks & Sarees sits right at No.11/40 on Jermiah Road. If you are looking for us, we are directly opposite the Vepery Police Station. It is a very busy spot with lots of sirens and people coming and going all day. The shop is full of sarees piled up on the counters. It is not the kind of place with air conditioning that freezes you out. We have a few ceiling fans that wobble a bit but they keep the air moving. We spend most of our time showing different fabrics to people who walk in. Some days are slow and we just sit by the door and watch the traffic on Jermiah Road. Other days it gets so packed you can hardly move between the racks. We try to keep the sarees neat but they always end up in a bit of a mess by evening. The floor is just plain tile and we sweep it out every morning before we start. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. We just sell what we have and talk to the regulars who live around Vepery. The police station across the road is a good landmark because everyone knows it. Sometimes it gets noisy with the sirens, but you stop hearing them after a few months. It is just a regular life here in the city, working right in front of the station.
