The Handmades

We are located at 48, Marvel Riverview County, on 66, Mariamman Koil Street in Manapakkam. It’s a peaceful spot compared to the center of the city, and having the river nearby makes a difference in the air. The Handmades is more of a studio space than a traditional shop. We have tables set up everywhere with different materials like thread, fabric, and beads scattered about. It’s a bit of a creative mess most of the time. We spend hours sitting and putting things together, so there are always scraps on the floor that need to be swept up at the end of the day. The light comes in really well through the windows in the afternoon, which helps with the detailed work. We don’t have a fancy showroom; if you come by, you’ll likely find us in the middle of a project with our sleeves rolled up. We often have the radio playing in the background to keep us company while we work. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way because we can keep an eye on everything ourselves. Sometimes the neighbors pop in just to see what we are making. It’s a nice way to spend the day, working with our hands and seeing something come together from scratch. We just focus on the task in front of us at number 48, keeping things simple and honest in our little corner of Manapakkam every day.
