Manthai Cattle Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Selvanayagapurammudukulathur Taluk, at 4/551. We are a group of people who have been around cows and livestock since we were born. Mudukulathur is a tough place sometimes, especially when the grass is dry and there isn’t much for the cattle to eat. We got together as a producer company because we realized that buying feed and selling milk or animals was much harder when you were just one person. Now we try to share the load. Our office is just a small room where we keep our books and meet up after the morning milking is done. It smells like the outdoors and animals around here, which is just fine with us. We aren’t trying to be some big national brand. We just want the farmers in our taluk to have a better chance at making a profit. You’ll often find a few of us sitting outside the building, talking about which cow is sick or where to find better hay. It’s a very practical life. We don’t have any fancy marketing people or polished speeches. We just know our animals and we know each other. Sometimes it’s a struggle to keep everything running, but we just take it one day at a time and try to help each other out whenever someone hits a rough patch. It is about keeping the tradition alive while trying to survive in a changing world.
