Man Mandir Granites

Man Mandir Granites sits on 6, Ecr Road in Thiruvanmiyur. The traffic out front is usually pretty loud with all the buses going by. We have been working with these stones for quite a long time. It is a lot of lifting and shifting things around to make space. Granite is heavy, and you have to be careful not to chip the edges when moving the big slabs. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and seeing what arrived on the last truck. The air smells like damp stone and a bit of exhaust from the road. Local contractors come in with their measurements written on scraps of paper. We just show them what we have available on the racks. It is a messy job sometimes. Water gets everywhere when we are cleaning the surfaces to show the colors properly. There is no air conditioning in the main area, so we just keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes from the coast. Sometimes the monkeys from the trees nearby come looking for food. We just stick to our work. It is a basic setup with just enough room for the stone and a couple of us to move around. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we are still here doing the same thing every day. It is just honest work with heavy materials.
