Malar Builders/Nirmala Tiles

We are located at No 12C in Arumbakkam, right near the Asian Games Village. Being on the Jawaharlal Nehru Inner Ring Road means there is never a quiet moment. The traffic is constant, but it brings a lot of life to the area. We go by a couple of names, Malar Builders and Nirmala Tiles, which sometimes confuses people, but it’s all the same shop here. We’ve got stacks of tiles and building materials everywhere you look. The space is filled with samples and pallets that we’ve moved around a hundred times. It is a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is. The morning starts with unloading deliveries and checking what needs to go out for the day's projects. We aren't really the type to wear suits or have big meetings. Usually, we are just in our work clothes, talking to contractors or neighbors who are fixing up their houses. The area around the Asian Games Village has changed a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed right here. Sometimes we just stand by the door and watch the cars go by on the Inner Ring Road when things slow down. It’s a busy life, keeping up with the demand in Arumbakkam, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We just focus on the materials and making sure the shop stays in some kind of order. There is always a layer of dust on the tiles, but that’s just how it is when you’re on the ring road.
