Mahaperiyava Organic Farmer Producercompany Limited

The Mahaperiyava Organic Farmer Producercompany Limited is based at No 42/2, Vembuliammam Koil Street in KK Nagar. It isn’t some big corporate headquarters, just a place where we get the work done. The street is usually busy with people going to the temple, but inside the office, we’re mostly focused on the paperwork that comes with running a collective. We have a lot of farmers who are part of this, and coordinating everything takes a lot of time. Sometimes the fans aren't enough for the heat, so we might be a bit slow in the afternoons. We handle organic produce, which means we spend a lot of time talking about soil quality and natural fertilizers. It’s not the easiest way to farm, but it’s what we decided to do together. Our records are kept in big folders on the shelves, and we spend plenty of hours on the phone with the different growers. If you drop by, you won’t find anything fancy. Just some chairs, a few desks, and people who know a lot about the land. We started this because it was getting harder for individual farmers to manage on their own. By working as a producer company, we can handle the logistics better for the whole group. It’s a lot of work, and some days are better than others. We aren't trying to be anything other than a group of local people trying to make farming work for everyone involved. It’s just us.
