We are based in the G.M. Centre at number 1, 9th Street, R.K. Salai in Mylapore. Mylapore is such a historic part of Chennai, and being on R.K. Salai means we’re right in the thick of things. The office is located in a street that’s a bit narrower than the main road, so it’s slightly quieter, but you still hear the temple bells sometimes. We handle international exports, which means our clocks are often set to different time zones. There’s always a lot of paperwork on our desks related to shipping containers and customs clearances. The office itself is quite plain, with white walls and a lot of box files lined up on the shelves. We have a small pantry where we make our own tea and coffee, and that’s usually where the best conversations happen. It can get quite humid here, so we’re thankful for the air conditioning, even if it’s a bit noisy. We deal with people from all over the world, but we like to keep things grounded and simple. There’s no big corporate hierarchy here; we just work together to get the shipments out on time. Sometimes there are delays at the port, and those days can be stressful, but we just manage it one step at a time. It’s a steady rhythm of work that has kept us going for years in this part of the city.
