L. R. Engineering

L. R. Engineering is located at No. 4-C on South Reddy Street in Athipet. It’s a quiet enough street most mornings until we get the shop opened up and the metal starts clanging. We do a lot of small-scale engineering work, parts and repairs mostly. It’s just a small team of us here. We’ve got the lathes and the drills and all that stuff set up in the back. It gets pretty oily and metallic smelling in there, but that's what you expect in this line of work. We don't have a receptionist or anything fancy like that. If the phone rings, whoever is closest to it picks up and talks. Sometimes we can’t even hear it over the sound of the machines running. We’ve been in Athipet for quite a few years now. Most of the people around here know our name. We get work from the bigger factories or just locals who need something fixed that they can't do themselves. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people knowing where we are and what we can do. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait for it to come back, which is frustrating, but we use the time to clean up the tools. It’s a basic workshop. We take pride in just doing what the customer asks for without a lot of fuss. It’s a long day usually, but it’s good to work with your hands.
