Kumbakonam Filter Coffee

We are located at 19, Agaram Main Road in Selaiyur. It’s right in the middle of Ranganathan Nagar. Most mornings at Kumbakonam Filter Coffee are a bit of a blur because everyone wants their drink at the same time. We don't really have a lot of space for people to lounge around, so it’s usually just a quick stop for most folks on their way to work. The smell of the decoction is always there, even after we close up for the day. I’ve been working here long enough that I don't even notice it anymore, but people tell me I smell like coffee when I get home to my family. We use the traditional filters and it takes time to get it right, so we have to stay on top of the pots throughout the day. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we have to scramble to find a backup, but that’s just part of the daily grind. The traffic on Agaram Main Road is pretty constant, so there’s always noise coming in from the street. We have some regulars who come in every single day at the exact same time, and we usually have their cup ready before they even ask for it. It’s a simple setup with just the basics. We don't use any fancy machines, just the old-fashioned way of doing things because that's what people expect when they come here.
