Kumaran Soda Factory

We've been here on Railway Road for a long time now. It’s a busy spot because the trains come and go all day. Our place, Kumaran Soda Factory, isn't very big, but we keep the machines running. It gets pretty loud when the bottles are being filled. Sometimes the glass clinks together and you can barely hear yourself talk. We mostly focus on getting the gas right in the soda. People stop by after getting off the train, especially when the sun is hitting hard on the platform. It's just us few workers here. We handle the crates and make sure the water is cold enough before the carbonation goes in. Some days the delivery truck is late because of the traffic near the station, which makes things a bit slow. We just stack the crates and wait. It is a simple setup with old floors and a lot of wet surfaces. My hands are usually cold from the ice and the water. We don't do anything fancy, just standard soda in those clear bottles. Sometimes a cap doesn't fit right and we have to set it aside. That's just how it goes here. We open early before the first big commute and stay until the evening lights come on along the tracks. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving stuff, but we are used to it by now. The air smells like lime and wet pavement most afternoons.
