It gets quite loud here on SN Chetty Street in Royapuram, mostly because of all the metalwork. We spend most of our days surrounded by steel sheets and welding tools. Manufacturing hospital furniture is a heavy job, and our workshop shows it. There is dust and the smell of paint in the air most afternoons. We started this because we knew how to work with steel, and it just kept going from there. The building at 265 is old, but it is sturdy enough for the machines we use. Royapuram is a busy area, so getting trucks in and out for deliveries is always a bit of a puzzle. We have to time it just right or the whole street gets jammed up. Most of the guys here have been working these machines for years. We make beds, stands, and those little cabinets you see in clinics. It is dusty work, and your hands get dirty five minutes after you start. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. If you come by, you'll see us in our work clothes, probably moving a heavy trolley around. We just focus on getting the welds right and making sure the legs don't wobble. It is basic, honest work that keeps us on our feet all day long. We keep the gates open while we work so a little breeze comes in.
