Up on the first floor at No. 249, 2nd Street in Korattur, that’s where you’ll find V Tex Exports. It’s a bit of a walk up the stairs, especially when we’re carrying rolls of cloth. The space is a bit tight with all the boxes, but we’ve learned how to navigate around them without tripping. We do a lot of exporting from here, so there’s always a lot of paperwork and packing tape involved. The street outside is usually full of parked bikes and delivery vans. We aren't some big shiny office; it’s more of a workshop feel. We have a couple of big tables for sorting and a corner where we keep the finished goods. The light in Korattur can be quite bright in the mornings, which helps when we’re checking for flaws in the textile. Some of us have been working here for years, so we’ve seen the seasons come and go. We don't spend money on fancy ads or big signs. People find us because they know where we are or they’ve heard about us from someone else. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around and making sure the counts are right before things get sent out. It gets loud when the machines are all running at once, but we’re used to it. We just focus on getting the exports ready and keeping the floor as tidy as we can.
