Kodeyalam Stones

Our place is over on 5th Street in Dr. Thirumurthy Nagar. It’s a pretty decent spot in Nungambakkam. Kodeyalam Stones has been here at No. 16 for a while. We deal with stones and heavy materials, so the yard is usually a bit dusty and full of stock. It isn't the quietest neighborhood, but it’s central and people know where to find us. We spend a lot of time moving things around and checking the quality of what comes in. The sun gets pretty hot out here in Chennai, so we try to do the heavy lifting early when we can. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just provide the stones that people need for their projects. Sometimes customers come by to look at samples, and we show them what's currently in the yard. It's a lot of physical work, and the days can be long. We have a small office where we handle the bills and the phone calls, but most of the action happens outside. The neighbors are mostly other small businesses and some houses nearby. It's a nice mix. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the street. If you walk down 5th Street, you can’t really miss us. We just keep things simple and honest here. It’s what we know how to do, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time. There is always work to be done.
