Our shop is at No. 123/1 on Redhills Road, right in the Surapet area of Puzal. If you know the road, you know how busy the traffic gets with all the trucks and cars passing by all day. It’s a noisy spot, but it keeps us in the middle of everything. Inside the yard, we have stacks of marble that we’ve brought in. The white dust covers almost everything if we don't wash the floors down regularly. Working with marble means you’re always dealing with something heavy and fragile at the same time. We spend a lot of the morning just organizing the slabs so people can actually see the patterns. It’s not a polished showroom; it’s more of a working warehouse where things are always moving around. We drink a lot of tea to stay going, especially when the humidity in Chennai gets thick. The office is just a small corner with a desk and some old chairs. We don't have a lot of fancy talk for anyone who walks in. We just show them what we have in the back. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It’s a straightforward life here in Surapet. We know the other shop owners nearby and we all just try to get through the day's work without too much fuss.
