Kailash Cool Bar & News Mart

This place, Kailash Cool Bar & News Mart, is tucked away on the 18th Main Road in Anna Nagar West. We are situated near the Adayar Bakery, which is a big landmark around here in the Thiruvalluvar Kudirupu area. We have been selling newspapers and magazines for many years. People come by very early in the morning to grab their daily paper and maybe a cold drink or some small snacks. It is a small shop, mostly filled with metal racks of papers and a fridge for the sodas. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop quite hard, so we usually keep the shutter halfway down to stay a bit cool inside. It gets noisy when the school kids come by for sweets or a cold juice after their classes are finished. We also have those little snacks like chips and biscuits that people like to munch on while they read. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking, and the shelves get a bit dusty sometimes because of the wind. We do not really do anything fancy here. The rack for the magazines is a bit wobbly, so we have to be careful how we stack the heavier ones. We have had the same old clock on the wall for years, and it is always five minutes fast, but we do not bother changing it. Sometimes people just stand by the fridge to cool down for a second before heading back out.
