K. K. Marbels

If you go down Medavakkam Main Road in Kellkattai, you’ll find us at No. 96. K. K. Marbels is right there. It’s a pretty easy spot to find because of all the stone outside. The road is always loud. There’s a lot of construction happening around here lately. We get a lot of dust from the passing trucks. It’s a bit of a battle to keep the marble slabs clean. We spend a lot of time with the hose washing them down. The water makes the colors of the stone pop. It’s probably the best part of the day. We don't have a big corporate office. It’s just a small room with a fan and a couple of old chairs. It gets hot in the afternoons. We have a small team of guys who help with the loading. We’ve all been working together for years. We know each other's families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just see the sign or hear about us from a friend. We do things the old-fashioned way. You come in, you look at the marble, and we give you a price. No hidden stuff. It’s just a local business trying to get through the day. Kellkattai has changed a lot since we started, but we are still here at number ninety-six. Sometimes we run out of space for new stock, so we have to move everything around. It's a lot of heavy lifting, but it keeps us in shape and the business moving along.
