Janamma Hospital

Our spot is at number 38/56 on Venkatakrishna Iyer Road in the R A Puram area. It is a pretty busy street with a lot of people walking by all day long. We have a small entrance that leads right into the main area where the nursing staff sits. The building is older so it has some character and a few quirks here and there. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and making sure the rooms are set up for the doctors. Many of the patients are regulars who have been coming to this part of R A Puram for years to get their checkups. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they wait their turn. The air conditioning works okay but we usually keep the fans going too because the building holds the heat. It is not a very formal place so you will see us chatting with the patients about the neighborhood or the weather while we work. We handle a lot of paperwork every day and the filing cabinets are getting pretty full. Someone usually goes out to get tea for everyone around mid-morning which is a nice break from the phone calls. We just focus on getting through the list of patients and making sure everyone gets seen before we close up for the night. It is hard work but it is what we know how to do for the community.
