Islamic Book Centre

The Islamic Book Centre is located inside the Jamia Complex on N. R. Road. It is a fairly quiet spot compared to the noise of the main street outside. When you come inside, you are surrounded by stacks of books and the smell of old paper. We have been here for a long time and many of our regulars come just to browse and talk for a bit. It isn't a very large space, so every shelf is packed from top to bottom. We spend a lot of our time organizing the new arrivals and helping people find specific titles they are looking for. The Jamia Complex is a good place for us because it is easy for people to find. Sometimes the lighting isn't the best in the back corners, but we know where everything is kept. We don't really go for a modern look. It is just wooden shelves and some simple counters for the registers. N. R. Road is always buzzing with traffic, but once you step through our door, it feels a lot more peaceful. We keep track of things mostly by memory and some simple notebooks. We aren't trying to be a big chain or anything. We just like having a place where people can come and find the books they need. It is a steady life and we enjoy the conversations we have with the people who stop by. We just open up the shop and see who comes through the doors each morning.
