We are based right in the middle of the action at the Ta Af Market in Koyembedu. If you’ve ever been to the market, you know how loud and busy it gets, especially in the very early hours of the morning. We are at stall number 68. Our days start long before the sun comes up. We deal with fresh produce, so everything has to move quickly before it spoils in the heat. There’s a constant stream of trucks arriving and people carrying crates on their shoulders. It’s a bit chaotic, but there’s a system to it all. Our space is filled with the smell of fresh fruits and vegetables. We don't have time for fancy office work; most of our business happens right on the floor with a handshake and a notebook. The floor is usually a bit damp from the misting and the cleaning, and there's always someone shouting out prices. We've been here for years and know most of the other traders around us. It’s a tough life with long hours, but we enjoy the energy of the market. You have to be quick on your feet and good at haggling to survive here. We don't use any slick marketing; our produce speaks for itself. If it’s fresh and the price is fair, people buy it. That’s the long and short of it. We keep things simple and just try to get the best produce to the buyers every day.
