Haji Sattar & Sons

Finding us on Acarappan Street can be a little confusing because of the house numbers. We are at what used to be Old No. 81/1, but now the sign says New No. 58. It happens a lot in these older parts of town. This place, Haji Sattar & Sons, has been part of the family for as long as I can remember. I spent my summers here as a boy, running between the crates and listening to the adults talk business. It’s not a big, shiny building. It is more of a place where things actually get done. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time for it. There is always someone coming in to ask about an order or a truck driver waiting for a signature. We deal with a lot of different people every day. Some are old friends, and some are just passing through. The street outside is narrow, so it gets crowded pretty fast. You have to be careful where you park your bike. Inside, it smells like old paper and whatever we are moving that week. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone like that. It’s just us, the sons and the staff, making sure everything is in its place. Sometimes we have tea together when things quiet down in the late afternoon. It’s a busy life, but it’s our life. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but we’re still right here on the same street.
