If you know the area near Ega Cinema Hall in Kilpauk, you’ve probably seen us on Poonamalle High Road. The address is No 372, though some people still use the old number 782 when they’re giving directions to rickshaw drivers. This part of Chennai is always loud with traffic, and the sound of horns usually leaks into the front lobby. We’ve been operating out of this building for years. The hallways are a bit narrow, and the paint isn't exactly fresh in every corner, but the rooms stay busy. Most of the staff here have worked together for a decade or more, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Patients come in from all over Kilpauk and even further out because they know the landmark. Our morning routine usually involves checking the water tanks and making sure the files are pulled for the day's appointments. It’s a lot of walking up and down the stairs since the elevators can be slow when everyone is arriving at once. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or big signs. Usually, it's just about getting people through the door and seeing what they need. Lunch breaks are short, often spent eating tiffin in the small staff room. Guest Hospital isn't a massive corporate chain; it’s just a local place where we know the tea stall guy outside and the regular faces on the street. It is just a practical building for medicine.
