Govt Royapettah Hospital

If you know the Westcott Road area in Royapettah, then you definitely know where Govt Royapettah Hospital is. We are right there, directly opposite the YMCA Ground. It’s a very famous spot in this part of town. The traffic on Westcott Road is almost always heavy, so there is a constant hum of engines outside our windows. Being in Royapettah, we are right in the heart of things. The hospital has been here for a long time, and the buildings show their age in a way that feels familiar to everyone who lives nearby. We have people coming in from all over the city because we are so easy to find near the YMCA. The staff here is used to the rush. Mornings are probably the busiest, with the outpatient crowds filling up the benches near the entrance. You can hear the sounds of the city and the ground across the street while you’re walking the halls. We don't have a lot of fancy lobby furniture or anything like that. It’s a government hospital, so it’s all about the basic needs and getting people seen. The wards are usually full, and the nurses are always on their feet. It’s just a part of Royapettah life. Most of us have worked here for years and we’ve seen the neighborhood change while the hospital stays pretty much the same. We just go about our shift and help the people waiting in the halls.
