Golden Granites

Golden Granites is over at 7/28, Palani Andavar Kovil Street in Vadapalani. It is a narrow street, so things get a bit tight when we have a delivery coming in. We have to be quick about unloading so we don't block the way for too long. The temple nearby brings a lot of people past our door, especially on festival days. We spend most of our time organizing the slabs by color and size. It is a lot of shuffling things around to get to the piece that someone wants to see. Our hands are usually rough from handling the stone all day. We have a small area where we keep the tiles stacked up in boxes. It smells like wet earth in here most of the time because we are always washing the stone. We don't have any fancy displays. We just lean the granite against the walls so people can walk through and look. Sometimes we sit on the front step when things are slow and watch the traffic. It is a simple way to earn a living. We don't use big words or have complicated processes. You just pick what you like and we figure out how to get it to your house. The work is hard on the back, but we are used to it by now. It is just another day at the shop for us.
