Gokul Coffee

You can find Gokul Coffee inside the Murugan Complex on Brindavan Street. We occupy units 82 and 49, so we have a bit of space for the stock and the machines. Being near SRM Hospital in West Mambalam means there is always someone walking by, day or night. We’ve been here long enough that most of the shopkeepers nearby know us by name. The smell of coffee sort of stays in the walls of the complex after all these years. It’s not a quiet job, there’s always the clatter of tins or the humming of the motors. We spend a lot of time just moving bags around and making sure the beans look right. It’s a busy part of town, so parking is usually a mess, but people still find their way to us. We don't have a big team, just a few of us doing the daily chores. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that's typical for the area. We keep our counters simple and don't bother with much decoration. People come here for the coffee, not for the decor. We try to get every order weighed out correctly and quickly. It gets hot in the middle of the day, especially back where the machines are. We like being in West Mambalam though, it has a certain feel to it that suits us. Just a regular business doing what it does best on Brindavan Street for anyone who stops by.
