Global Stone Centre

Global Stone Centre is tucked away at No: 50 on Kalathi Pillai Street in Sowcarpet. If you’ve ever been to Sowcarpet, you know how these streets are. They are narrow, busy, and full of life. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting larger things in and out, but we’ve managed it for years. The shop is more like a warehouse where we keep our different stones. It’s dark and cool inside, which is a nice break from the heat of the street outside. We don't have a big sign or any flashy lights. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this street for decades. I spend my days sitting on a stool near the door, chatting with the neighbors and waiting for customers. When someone comes in, we walk through the rows of stone together. I don't try to push them into buying anything. I just show them the different grains and the way the light catches the surface. Sowcarpet is a place where everyone knows everyone, so we have to be honest about what we have. If a slab has a crack or a weird mark, we point it out. It’s better that way. We aren't trying to be a big global corporation despite the name; we are just a local shop in a very old part of town. We keep it honest and just do our thing daily. It works for us and our customers.
