Esteem Granites

We are over in Arumbakkam at G-57 Bharathidasan Street. A lot of people still use the old address, G85, so it gets a bit confusing for the delivery drivers sometimes. We are in the Mmda Colony area. Dealing with granite is what we do every day. We have stacks of it everywhere. The street outside is usually busy with people going to work or school. Our shop is just a practical space where we cut and store the stone. It’s not a showroom where everything is polished and shiny; it’s a working yard. We have a couple of guys who handle the heavy lifting and the cutting machines. The noise can get pretty loud when the blades are running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there is always someone around who knows the history of the place. We don’t do much advertising, mostly people just see our sign or hear about us from a neighbor. My father started this years ago and we just kept it going. We have a small desk with a computer that barely works, but we do all our math on paper anyway. It’s a bit messy with all the stone scraps and water on the floor, but that’s just part of the job. We stay open until six unless the rain gets too heavy or the power goes out.
