This is Dr Mehtas Hospitals Pvt Ltd, located at No. 9/1, Thyagappa Street in Kilpauk Gardens. We are in the 3rd Lane, right here in Chennai. It’s a busy hospital, and there is always something going on at all hours of the day and night. The building has been here for a long time, so many people in the Tamil Nadu area know where we are. It’s a large place with many different departments, but it started out much smaller years ago. I work with a lot of different doctors and nurses. The hallways are often full of families and staff moving back and forth in a hurry. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where a lot of important work happens every day. We have the usual hospital smells and the sound of machines beeping in the background. My office is tucked away in one of the many corridors. I spend a lot of time on my feet checking on things. The traffic in Kilpauk can be quite bad, so getting here takes some patience for everyone. We try to keep things moving as best as we can, but hospitals are unpredictable, that's just how it is. Sometimes things go smoothly, other times it’s a bit of a scramble to get everything done. We just try to take care of the people who walk through the gates. It’s an old institution with a lot of history in these walls and we just keep going. The night shift is usually the busiest for us.
