Cool Drink Shop

The Cool Drink Shop is located at No 1 on Sivan Kovil Road. We are very close to the Shiva Temple in Tiruverkadu, so we get a lot of people coming by after they finish their prayers. On hot days, the shop is usually packed with people looking for something cold to drink. We have several large refrigerators that stay running day and night. The floor is often a bit wet from the ice we use, but we try to keep it as clean as we can. There is no air conditioning here, just a few ceiling fans that spin as fast as they can. We sell all kinds of sodas, juices, and bottled water. The sound of the temple bells is a constant background to our work. We don't have a big staff, just me and a couple of helpers from the neighborhood. We don't bother with fancy menus or advertising. People know we are here because of the location. We keep a few plastic chairs outside for people to rest for a minute. Sometimes it gets hectic during festival days when the temple is crowded, and we barely have time to sit down. We stay open until late in the evening when the crowds finally thin out. It is a simple business but it keeps us busy and we like meeting all the different people who walk through the door.
