Chill Out Juice Shop

Periyar Pathai is always busy. Choolaimedu has this energy that never really stops. Our shop, number 96, is right in the thick of it. Chill Out Juice Shop is where we spend all our hours. It is not a very large space, just enough to keep the fruit fresh and the blenders going. Every morning starts with the same routine of moving the crates around. The sidewalk out front is usually crowded with people heading to work or school. We see the same faces every day, which is nice in a way. The air smells like oranges and pineapples mostly, but you also get the exhaust from the bikes on the road. It gets pretty loud during rush hour. We don’t have any fancy seating, just a couple of stools that have seen better days. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. We keep our supplies tucked away in the back corner. Running a juice shop isn't complicated, but it is a lot of cleaning. You wouldn't believe how much sticky juice gets on everything by three in the afternoon. We just keep at it, though. When the sun goes down, it finally starts to cool off a bit, and that’s usually when we get a second wind. It’s just a local spot for people to grab something quick while they are on their way somewhere else.
