Chidambaram Cool Bar

It gets really hot in Ambattur, especially around Cholapuram 6th Street. Chidambaram Cool Bar is where we keep the fridge running all day so things stay cold. We are at No 71/34, and it’s a small place but we keep it as tidy as we can. People come in for a quick drink or maybe a snack when they're passing through on their way to work. We don't have fancy seating, just a few stools and the front counter. The fans are always going at full speed. It’s mostly factory workers and students from nearby who stop by for a break. We’ve been here in Chennai for a while, and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still in the same spot. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to worry about the ice melting, but we usually handle it somehow. It's just me and a couple of guys working here. We start early to get everything ready before the sun gets too high. There’s no big sign or anything, just the name written on the board outside. We keep things simple. If you need something cold to drink, this is where we are. It's a busy street, so there's always noise from the traffic. We don't mind it much. We just focus on serving the next person in line. The floor gets a bit messy with straws sometimes, but we sweep it up when things quiet down. It's a decent way to make a living.
