Chettinad Hardware Shops

We are over at 131 Palaniappa Nagar in Valasaravakkam. It’s a hardware shop, so you can imagine what it looks like inside. We have shelves full of everything from nails and screws to hammers and plumbing pipes. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we try to keep as much as we can in stock. Chettinad Hardware is a local spot where people from the neighborhood come when something breaks at home. We spend our days helping people find the right size bolt or explaining why a certain tool might be better for their project. Valasaravakkam is a nice area, and being on Palaniappa Nagar means we get a lot of local walk-ins. We aren't one of those massive home centers where you can't find anyone to talk to. It’s usually just us behind the counter. We know where everything is, even if it looks a bit cluttered to someone else. The shop opens up early because that is when the builders and plumbers need their supplies. By the end of the day, our hands are usually pretty dirty from handling all the metal and wood. We don’t do much advertising. We just open the shutters, put the displays out, and wait for the regulars to show up. It’s a simple business and we like the people we get to talk to every day, helping them get their repairs done properly.
