Aliff Hardwares is located at No. 182 on Rasappa Chetty Street. If you’ve ever been to this street in Chennai, you know how crowded and narrow it can be. It’s the heart of the hardware market, so it’s always buzzing with people, bikes, and handcarts moving stuff around. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of nuts, bolts, tools, and metal fittings. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at the same time. We’ve been here for a long time, and we know our inventory by heart. You can ask for a specific size of screw and we usually know exactly which box it’s in, even if it looks like a mess to anyone else. It’s a family-run place. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that works overtime to keep us cool. The street noise is constant, but you get used to it after a few years. We don't bother with fancy packaging or branding for our stuff. People come to us because they need a specific part for a repair or a building project. We write down orders on small slips of paper and keep a ledger for the regular accounts. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for us. We aren't interested in being a big chain. We just like being part of the Rasappa Chetty Street community. It’s honest, hard work and we take pride in knowing our trade inside and out. It's just a regular shop.
