Chennai Beverages

We are tucked away on Subramani Street in Purasaiwalkam. Being at No. 15/8 means we are right in the middle of all the heat and noise that comes with this part of Chennai. Chennai Beverages started because there was a need for stuff to drink here in Tamil Nadu, and we just kept going. The shop is usually full of crates stacked up high. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to move around when a new shipment comes in. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting and they are pretty fast at it now. The street outside is always busy with people walking to the local shops, so there is always something to look at while we work. We don't have a big office with air conditioning; we mostly just use fans and keep the doors open. It’s a bit dusty, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the delivery drivers who stop by. It’s a simple operation really. We know most of the people on this street by name. When the monsoon hits this part of the 600007 area, we have to move everything away from the door so it stays dry. It’s just a regular local business trying to stay busy and keep the stock moving. No one here wears a suit, we just wear what’s comfortable for moving heavy boxes all day long.
