Carpet Magic

You can find Carpet Magic at 23 1St Street in Dandayuthapani Nagar, over in Kotturpuram. It’s tucked away a little bit, not right on the main drag, which is actually kind of nice because it’s a bit quieter. We’ve got a small sign outside. The shop is filled with all sorts of things we’ve gathered over time. It’s not one of those places where everything is perfectly lined up. It’s a bit more organic than that, if you know what I mean. We spend the day moving things around and talking to people who wander in. Kotturpuram is a nice place to work, even when it’s really hot and humid outside. We have a little fan that we keep right on the desk. It’s just a few of us here. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything. We just decide what needs to be done and then we do it. Sometimes we stay late if there’s a lot of work, and other times we might close up a bit early if it’s a slow Tuesday. We try to be fair and just do a good job with what we have. It’s a simple business. We like the people around here and we’ve gotten to know the regular delivery guys pretty well. Most days are pretty good, even if the phone rings too much sometimes. It's just our way of making a living.
