Bibens Classic Original Tea

Bibens Classic Original Tea is located at 78 Kodungayur. We are very close to the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Nagar Bus Stop. That location means we see a lot of people every single day. Most of them are just waiting for their bus. They look tired or they are in a hurry. We try to have the tea ready quickly. The water is always boiling in a big metal pot. The steam makes the air damp. We use a lot of ginger and cardamom. You can smell it from the street. We have a small bench where three people can sit if they squeeze together. Most people just stand and drink. The counter is covered in a sheet of metal so it’s easy to wipe down. We have to wipe it down a lot. It gets sticky with the sugar and spilled milk. We go through a lot of small glasses. Washing them is a never-ending job. We have a small sink in the back for that. The light over the counter is a bit dim. We should probably put in a brighter bulb soon. My father started this and I took over a few years back. It’s a simple business. We don't do anything fancy. We just make the tea the way we always have. When the buses stop, a crowd comes in. When the buses leave, it gets quiet for a few minutes. That’s when we get a chance to sit down ourselves for a bit and look out at the road. It’s a steady pace.
