B R Hospital

Being located at No-28 Kathipar Road in Nungambakkam means we deal with a lot of noise. The Gand Road area is always humming. At B R Hospital, we don’t really have time for anything fancy. The building is a bit older, and you can tell by the way the floorboards sound in some of the offices. We get a lot of people coming in off the street because it's such a central spot. Most of us have worked here for years. You get used to the rhythm of the place—the way the morning starts slow and then everything happens at once by lunchtime. The chairs in the waiting room are those heavy plastic ones that last forever. We keep them clean, but they’ve seen better days. It's a practical place. We don't have those big digital signs or anything. Usually, someone just calls out a name when it's time for the next person to go in. The air conditioning works mostly, though on those really hot Nungambakkam days, it struggles a bit in the main hall. We just open a window and let the air move. It's a lot of paperwork and talking to families. Sometimes we run out of pens, or the printer jams, and we all have to stop and fix it. It's just a normal hospital doing normal things every day. We don't think about it much, we just get on with the day and hope it goes smoothly.
