Avilon Stone Company Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away on Gangai Street over in Besant Nagar. It’s actually a nice area, being in Kalakshetra Colony, which is a bit quieter than the main roads. We’ve been at No. 35/1 for quite some time now. Dealing with stone is what we do, day in and day out. It's not the cleanest job in the world, even in a nice neighborhood like this. You’ll see bits of stone and crates stacked up when you walk in. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the stock in the back. Sometimes the shipments take a while to get here through the city traffic, which can be a real headache. We aren't a massive operation with hundreds of workers. It’s a smaller group of us making sure the stone pieces are what the customers asked for. The humidity in Besant Nagar can make the work feel a bit slower in the afternoons, but we push through it. We don't have a flashy showroom. It’s more of a practical space where things get done. If someone walks in asking for a price, we just look it up in the ledger. It’s straightforward. We like being part of the community here. You get to know the regulars and the local contractors. It feels like a normal part of the day, just handling stones and talking to people who need them. We just keep things moving.
