Shallom Chicken & Goat Farms

This farm is tucked away in the Kalaignar Nagar Extension. It is a bit of a drive out to Avadi, but we like the space. We have been working with chickens and goats for a good while now at Kovilpathagai. It's a lot of early mornings, usually before the sun is even fully up. The goats can be noisy when they want their feed. We keep things pretty straightforward here. No big machines, just manual work every day. Cleaning the pens takes up most of our time in the afternoon. It gets dusty, especially during the dry months. We've got a small shed at No. 17 where we keep our supplies. People from around the area know us for the livestock. It isn't a glamorous job, but someone has to do it. The chickens run around quite a bit, keeping us on our toes. My family helps out when things get busy. We don't spend much on advertising because word of mouth in this part of town is usually enough. Every season brings different challenges, like making sure the animals stay cool when it's boiling outside. We just focus on keeping the animals healthy and the farm running. It’s a quiet life mostly. We are just local people doing what we know how to do. If you head down the extension road, you will find us easily enough near the end of the street. It’s hard work, but we are used to it by now.
