Arasan & Sons

Arasan & Sons has been at 70C Mohammed Lane for quite a while now. If you know Town Hall Road, you know how narrow and crowded these lanes can get during the day. It is a bit of a squeeze when we have deliveries coming in, and there is always someone shouting or a motorbike zooming past the door. Our shop or office, depending on how you look at it, is an old building. It has got high ceilings and those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler in the summer heat. We are a family-run place, and you can usually find one of the sons or the older folks sitting near the front desk. We do a bit of everything in the trading line, mostly sticking to the items we have known for generations. It is not the kind of place with air conditioning or sliding glass doors. It is more about the wooden counters and the old ledgers. We know most of our neighbors and the people who walk by every day. Sometimes we just sit and have tea while talking to a customer about nothing in particular. The work is steady, but it is not fast-paced like the modern offices in the new part of town. We like the rhythm of Mohammed Lane. It is noisy and dusty, but it is our home.
